DESCRIPTION: An overview of all the options available to successfully finance new ventures. Financing alternatives are explored including debt financing from venture banks, commercial banks, and SBICs, and equity financing from angels, private placements, venture capitalists, and public equity markets.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Learn basic concepts of business planning.

Develop an understanding of the structure and issues surrounding financing a new venture.

Improve skills in assessing new venture opportunities.

Develop skills in using spreadsheet models in valuation and forecasting.

Develop skills in assignning proper valuation to a new venture.

REfine written and oral communication skills.
