DESCRIPTION: A one-semester course in real estate practices and finance. topics include basic forms of real estate ownership, investments, fundamental transactions, appraisal, brokerage, land use planning and financing. Financial aspects of the the real estate business are covered including the mortgage market, real estate lending policies and foreclosure practices.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To examine the role of real estate in the larger context of business and society.

To acquaint the student with principles and practices which are used in the real estate business, includnig investing in and financing real estate.

To develop analytical skills in the application of real estate principles and practices to real estate investment and financing situations.

To provide the student with a foundational frame of reference for the exercise of sound judgement in approaching real estate finance and investment.
