GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Focuses on principles of successful marriages from a gospel as well as a scholarly perpective. Emphasis on couple communication, marital expectations, and other key marital issues in the growth of the couple as a sacred marital unit. Some sections require married and/or engaged couples. Check class schedule.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Focuses on principles of successful marriages from a gospel as well as a scholarly perpective. Emphasis on couple communictaion, marital expectations, and other key marital issues in the growth of the couple as a sacred marital unit. Systems Theory, and potentil problems with money, sexual issues adn in-laws will be explored.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Have a clearer expectations of marriage and their role in it.
2. Spend more time together with greater satisfaction.
3. Learn to express themselves more clearly and listen more carefully to their partner.
4. Strengthen their commitment to their partner and marriage.
5. Identify how family-of-origin dynamics influence their marital behavior.
6. Understand themselves and their partner more completely.
REQUIREMENTS: Four Integration planning papers based upon text and Ensign readings, participation in couples communication training, eight enrichment assignments and reports, one marriage commitment project, one take-home midterm exam, take one take-home exam, book reviews and paper journals.
