DESCRIPTION: Exploration of the spiritual adventure of life and the corresponding stages of various moral theorists. Family ritual, compassion and relationships will be discussed.
TAUGHT: Winter, Fall
CONTENT AND TOPICS: The Spiritual Adv. of Ed., The Hero's Journey, Cultural Wars & Family, Paradigms and Constructs of Reality, The Philosophy of Modernism/Post Modernism, Idolatry, Moral Agency, The Moral Theorists, Fear of Death, Family Ritual and Myths, Reclaiming the 'ish' of Self, Quantum Reality, The Blessings of the Body, The Gospel of Grace, Spirituality and Religiosity, The Shadow, The Nature of Truth, Conventional Wisdom, Self Righteousness, and Turning Within
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Students taking this class will be exposed to the philosophies of modernism with its supporting paradigms of te scientific method of mechanistic thinking. Post modernism will also be explored with the implications of the Quantum and Chaos theories being explained. New paradigms to explain the moral responsibilities fo the home and family will be analyzed within the context of the Gospel of Christ. Rituals, metaphors, the nature of truth, moral agency, spirituality verses religiosity, idolatry, grace, the Shadow and the adventure of living a moral life will be topics of explorations.
REQUIREMENTS: Students will be required to attend classes, turn in Book Reviews, Website Lesson Reviews,a Journal and a Paper.
