GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Foundational principles of parent-child interaction with application to typical decisions and problems encountered by parents.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter, every other Summer Term
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Family Proclamation principles of happiness in family life and responsibilities of parents
Overview of scholarly principles related to parenting
Parenting principles applied to
Children and media
Children’s work in the home
Children’s play and activities outside the home
Children and school issues
Teaching and guiding children
Correcting children
Finding balance in marriage as parents
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: The students will be able to recognize and describe scholarly and doctrinal principles of parenting. They will learn to correctly apply this knowledge to their current or future decisions and problems relating to parenting.
REQUIREMENTS: Reading assignments, quizzes, exams, application papers, short research findings and class presentations.
