THE TESTING CENTER
The Brigham Young University-Idaho Testing Service
offices and main testing center are located in the basement of the McKay
building. Office hours are from 8:00am
to 5:00pm and the testing area
is open from 8:00am to 10:00pm
Monday through Friday. This testing area is also open on Saturday from 11:00am
to 4:00pm. There is also a
testing facility in the Taylor
Building, room 130, that
is open Monday through Friday from 3:00pm
to 9:45pm. Another
temporary test site will be advertised and opened as needed wherever we can
find space during high use periods.
The Testing
Center
administers "write-on examinations" such as short answer or essay
tests graded by the instructor, "objective tests" scored and analyzed
by the Testing Server that immediately provides student grade results, or any
combination of the two. Standard tests such as the ACT, GED, Praxis Series,
TOEFL, CLEP, and distant learning tests scheduled by students locally or from
other universities are also administered by the Testing
Center.
The Testing
Center
provides a WEB page linked from the BYU-Idaho home page. These pages provide
student, faculty, and visitor information. Among other things, a live view of
the McKay Testing
Center
can be seen on the Student Information page. Visitors can get general
information including directions to the Testing
Center.
These general information pages are available across the internet.
Students
can look up their test scores and test deadlines. Faculty can view class
scores, including item responses for their tests. These pages are on the Testing
Center Server and contain scores and private test information
available only on campus computers using passwords for connection.
To increase
our seating capacity the Testing
Center
can now provide what we call “Print-On-Demand” Testing. That means that any
test that a teacher provides to the Testing
Center in
a digital format for printing can be printed at request in any BYU-Idaho test
center that is open.
