OBJECTIVES: 1. To examine the cultural legacy of Western civilization in the area of historical architecture, interior design, furniture, furnishings and
decorative arts.
2. To distinguish specific styles of historical architecture, decorative motifs and interior furniture classics through reading, analysis, research and lecture attendance.
3. To provide the student with an understanding of major historical events, geography and people which effected the development of design styles.
4. To advance writing skills, research capabilities and enhance professionalism in graphic presentation.
5. To incorporate an opportunity for team approach to three-dimensional design application which produces a visual learning experience.
