| OBJECTIVES: | This course is designed to provide the student with the basic tools, both musical and extra-musical, to more accurately appreciate, analyze, discuss, and perform any given piece of music reflective of the periods and genres studied. Examples of each musical genre will be studied in detail, both from score and aural recordings, as a model of how to approach other works of the same period and genre. | ||
| REQUIREMENTS: | Varies depending on the instructor. Generally there will be a series of three or four two-day exams, each consisting of four major components: Short Answer, Multiple Choice, Essay, and Aural Recognition. The final exam is also comprehensive. Attendance is not considered as a grading component. | ||
