| CATALOG DESCRIPTION: |
The art elements and principles are learned and applied to formal and conceptual visual design problems, emphasizing the application of color with print. A basic background in color history and theory are surveyed. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
The language of design is taught cognitively and applied to several deesign assignments, attempting to teach the student both the language and practice of design. Aesthetic sensitivity, painting and design skills, and the ability to verbalize ideas are modeled in several finished images, lectures, class discussions, and frequent group and individual critiques. |
| TOPICS: |
Art elements and principles, working with paint, solving both formal and conceptual design problems in a 2-dimensional format, the history and theory of color, color schemes, color palettes and mixing color, conceptual and perceptual spatial conventions and strategies to work within or outside those conventions. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
This is an art major's course, designed to assist students to lay a foundation for successful problem solving for the visual imaging professional. See the course description for course objectives. |
