Extensive thematic reading; analysis of thematic writing to include interpretive/analytical and creative/imitative forms within this theme. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
- Understand and appreciate literature as a valuable source of intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and aesthetic experience that enriches readers' lives.
- Appreciate the diversity of literary forms within a specific genre or cultural tradition.
- Read literature in a specific genre, drawing on the contexts of theme, nationality, culture, and history.
- Apply appropriate critical theories to literary texts.
- Continue developing library skills for literary research and document formal writing according to MLA guidelines.
- Integrate secondary texts into written work.

| REQUIREMENTS: |
Extensive reading, discussion, and oral presentations. Interpretive and analytical papers, and creative/imitative writing using the form studied within the theme totaling 15 pages. MLA documentation.
