| DESCRIPTION: | Introduces students to announcing techniques, including news and commercial reading, voice diction and oral interpretation. Principles and techniques of news and information gathering, interviewing, writing and visual storytelling for the electronic media. Use of electronic audio and video equipment for producing news stories and other broadcast materials. This class is needed to qualify for production or tape-to-on-air work for KBYI, KBYR or the BYU-I television station. | ||

| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | Develop writing, and technical skills for good broadcast-style storytelling.Develop a better understanding of the television news business. Edit video and audio into compelling news stories. Shoot and capture quality video and audio. Identify and properly use information sources. Conduct interviews that extract interesting and useful information. Read scripts in a professional, conversational and pleasing manner. | ||
