| DESCRIPTION: |
This class emphasizes practical teaching experience in both private and group situations. Students will teach average-age beginning students. The course is designed primarily for piano majors. However, any student meeting the course prerequisite is welcome. Grades are prorated accordingly. |

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: |
In preparation for practicum teaching students will attend lectures on topics which will include piano systems/methods, business practices, basic principles of music education, and pedagogical approaches. |
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: |
Organize a professional studio in preparation for independent piano teaching. |
| REQUIREMENTS: |
Attend all class periods, complete assignments and examinations as scheduled.

| PREREQUISITES: |
Designed primarily for piano pedagogy majors, students enrolled in the course should have a performance competency level that will enable them to adequately participate both in performance and basic theoretical analysis of the music. The course is open to non-majors with an interest in teaching in the home. |
