| DESCRIPTION: | A one-semester course for development of classroom management, rehearsal, and performance skills for the choral ensemble. | ||

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | Classroom management in the public schools, rehearsal strategies, advanced choral conducting, and sound production of the choral ensemble. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | 1. Relate textbook reading to future teaching application. 2. Consider the ideas of content-related scholarship. 3. Produce a professional portfolio. 4. Understand the value of music education and methods used in teaching. |

| REQUIREMENTS: | Students will be required to attend class regularly, work in small groups to prepare presentations, participate in three out-of-class observation experiences, and demonstrate knowledge and skill through written, oral, and conducting exams. | ||
| PREREQUISITES: | Students must be a Bachelor of Arts: Secondary Education Music - Choral major and have successfully completed the first two-year recommended sequence of that major. In some cases, other music students may participate with the permisison of the instructor. | ||
