| DESCRIPTION: | A course designed to prepare music majors to teach the basics of string playing to elementary and secondary beginning through intermediate students. Focus will be on violin, viola, cello and bass. | ||

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | Current and historical approaches to string playing; a study of group and solo method books; peer tutoring and discovery teaching techniques; classroom management. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | 1. Demonstrate basic playing skills as well as explain the process of its production. 2. Analyze a variety of string method publications and supplementary teaching materials. 3. Develop diagnostic and problem solving skill. |
