The Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences, with a major in Agriculture Business (259), is designed to prepare a student for transfer to a four year university for additional study. A student with a Bachelors degree in Agriculture Business is qualified for employment in a variety of fields including: business, finance, marketing, policy formation, farm and ranch management, resource economics, rural development and real estate appraisal.

Orientation in making decisions concerning careers in the broad field of Agri-Business.
This career search will involve a self-assessment of talents, interests, abilities, needs
and resources in order to better identify possible career alternatives.
AgBus 102 Agriculture Business Accounting (Fall and Winter) 3
Three hours of lecture and two hours open laboratory per week
Introductory course in Accounting using double entry concept, composition of balance
sheet, income statements, journals and payroll; some computer accounting.
AgBus 232 Agricultural Sales and Merchandising (Fall) 3
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor
Two hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory per week
The retail sales and merchandising of agricultural products and services with emphasis
upon purchasing, advertising, displaying, salesmanship and customer service.
AgBus 247 Agricultural Marketing (Fall) 3
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor
Three hours of lecture and two hours of open laboratory per week
Lab Fee: $10
Fundamental marketing principles applied to agricultural marketing,including futures and
options.
AgBus 250 Agricultural BusinessManagement (Fall and Winter) 3
Prerequisite: AgBus 102 or Acctg 201 and one of the following: AgBus140, 150,CIS 140 or
Crops 280
The application of approved practices, concepts, principles and tools of management in an
agricultural business; with emphasis upon planning, organizing, directing and controlling
various elements of a business, including accounting, personnel management, human
relations, production, finance and appraisal.
AgBus 298A Occupational Internship 1
Prerequisite: Permission of Department
Lab Fee: $10
This course prepares students by discussing resumes, possible internship locations,
insurance issues and various Ag Bus-related responsibilities.
AgBus 298B Occupational Internship 2-4
Prerequisite: Permission of Department
4-12 week occupational experience in industry integrated with academic instruction.
Internship is structured and supervised to insure a variety of experiences pertaining to
the agricultural industry. Repeatable for credit. Must have minimum of two credits for
graduation.
